Flying Dog Brewery
Raging Bitch IPA

By Aleathia Drehmer

I want to start out by saying I am a bit of a beer snob.  I can’t handle swill.  Half a can or bottle gives me a raging headache and hell if that doesn’t preclude me to not getting any sort of buzzy benefit from drinking, so when I drink, I go microbrew.

On a whim one night, my boyfriend and I picked up a sixer that caught our eye visually.  It stood out from all the other douche beer packaging as it was designed by Ralph Steadman (of Hunter S. Thompson fame).  It was called “Raging Bitch” and what chick wouldn’t identify with that?

Flying Dog Brewery out of Maryland delivers a supreme Belgian-Style India Pale Ale.  This beer is hoppy the front of the tongue from the get go on and mellows out rich and smooth as it hits the back.  It is like having the best of both worlds—something ravishing and golden with bite that has a smooth almost amber-like finish.

Raging Bitch has become a standby for the both of us.  We drink it pretty regular when we don’t have access to the local grocery store’s “craft pack” which allows you to mix and match a six pack of microbrews.  I might also mention that this beer is high on the alcohol content clocking in at 8.3% by volume which can set you on the right path with or without the occasional Maker’s Mark mixed in there.

In most cases, you can pick up a six pack for between $8.99-$9.99.  You won’t be sorry.  A crowd pleaser every time.

You can find more official information about “Raging Bitch” from Flying Dog Brewery at www.flyingdogales.com .  You can also check out all the other interesting beers they feature and some funky Steadman inspired merchandise as well.

Bottoms up.
